provide, protect and nurture - Be your dog's Snack Leader!!!
I established Snack Leader Dog Training in 2020 due to my passion for dogs and training.
I have a degree in Canine Studies and have completed the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers assessment to become a qualified dog trainer. I completed a level 4 in teaching over 10 years ago and have accumulated hundreds of hours teaching both people and animals. I have recently spent become a World Scent Detection Association Trainer and completed a Petdog Gun Dog course.
I have worked with dogs in various capacities for over 15 years, it is my passion and love working with dogs.
I am married with 3 children and live in Ripon, North Yorkshire. Dogs have been a huge feature of my life, owning rescues, pedigrees and mongrels at some point, each dog has brought their own personality and little quirks which intrigued me. I currently live with 4 dogs, all of which are different ages and breeds, each with their own intricate behaviours, mostly good but some slightly more challenging. I was in the military for over 22 years and during that time have developed a natural flair for teaching, combined with my passion for dogs lead to my decision to begin my venture into the vast world of dog training.
My philosophy is Force and Fear Free training. I believe in using the dog's natural drives to shape their behaviours, offering choice to your dog and helping them to adapt in this ever-changing world.
I look to understand what the dog needs to be able to help behaviour modification and ensure patience and understanding through every journey.
Do you need training or behaviour modification for your dog?
They both go hand in hand but depending on your dogs needs require a different approach. Training works on teaching your pup areas such as recall, sit, loose lead walking etc.... Behaviour work is looking to change an emotional response to a stimulus e.g. reactivity, resource guarding, aggression etc...
At Snack Leader Dog Training we offer a variety of different training or behaviour solutions to suit your needs. Do you need to work on a specific area e.g. recall. A single 121 session or a workshop might be best suited. If you have a new dog or simply want to work on many areas, then a group class could be what you are looking for. Whatever the training or behaviour need, Snack Leader is here to help.
Me & Brooke did the 6 weeks basic class and then the 4 week follow on class and really enjoyed going. The classes were informative and fun and Kris sent an email after every lesson with notes so you could continue learning at home. Brooke is a rescue and isn’t comfortable with strangers and them going over her head in particular. Kris really made the effort to make Brooke feel safe and I loved seeing her become much more confident around him! We have a very busy multi-dog household and that hour of just me & her was such a nice bonding time. You even get a certificate and rosette after completion which is a nice touch. Highly recommend, thankyou!
Moochy Poochy Dog Walking, Ripon
We have very recently used Kris and Snack leader dog training for our new puppy Oscar. Kris managed to get us onto his Saturday morning class which lasted 6 weeks. His classes were not only enjoyable and very helpful for Oscar but they were also fun for us as well. We did have to miss a couple but Kris has this covered with materials that he sends out following each session covering what has been done. His location is also very easy to get to with lots of parking and in a wonderful setting. We would highly recommend him.

We could not recommend Snack Leader Training enough.
We used Kris for 1:1 training with our office dog Maisie where he came into the office to help us with Maisie’s barking. We have also just finished a 6 week training class where we learnt a lot as well as having fun, turning lessons into games. We have learnt a lot about Maisie and the reasons she acts the way she does, however with the help of Kris, we now understand how to manage Maisie’s anxiety. Kris has a lot of knowledge into dogs behaviour and is very patient and understanding. He was approachable and always contactable whenever advice was needed throughout the week.

WHAT IS CANINE HOOPERS? AND WHY YOU AND YOUR DOG WILL LOVE IT!!!
Curious about an exciting new dog sport? Let us introduce you to Canine Hoopers!
This low-impact activity is like an agility course but designed for dogs of all ages, sizes, and abilities. In Hoopers, dogs weave through hoops, run around barrels, go through tunnels and follow gentle curves, allowing them to enjoy a structured path without jumping or sharp turns.
This makes it especially great for puppies, seniors, and dogs who may have joint issues or are new to dog sports.
How It Benefits Dogs:
How It Benefits Pet Parents:
Your monthly subscription allows you and your dog to attend 2 classes per month and have use of the training field on Sundays for practice. Classes are ran each week on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Kids Around Dogs protocol is designed to help young children 5+, to help overcome their fear of Dogs. This is initially conducted over zoom with the later sessions conducted in person. This helps the flow and productivity of the sessions, with a task at the end of the sessions for the children to conduct as homework.
